Moving Base – Again

Posted: June 23, 2012 in Uncategorized

I am officially sick of WordPress. Besides the fact that I haven’t actually been to update my blog in goodness knows how long I’m just becoming incredibly frustrated at all the constant changes and the fact that it keeps logging me out when I tell it not to. Stupid reasons I know but when I feel like I have to fight with the inteface of a site I’m just not going to use it.

I’m going back to my roots. My first ever blog was on LiveJournal and I’ve opened up a new account there. I’m trying to start an Asylum Challenge if anybody is interested – though it is only loosely based on the rules.

Maybe going back to TS2…

Posted: January 18, 2012 in Uncategorized

Lately I’ve found myself tempted to go back to The Sims 2. I think ultimately it suits my playing style a great deal better and I’m really beginning to detest the way that EA is going with the series. A more intrusive store? No thanks. Late Night 2.0 with added social features? No thanks. Katy Perry for an extra $10 (goodness knows how much here in the UK if we get it)? No thanks.

But with that in mind I actually have to thank EA. You see I have been teetering on the bring of giving up on TS3 for so long. I said I wouldn’t buy Generations and I caved. I was extremely pissed off about Pets, CANCELLED my preorder… and then bought it anyway when I found out that they’d fucked up the whole limited edition thing anyway. Now I can honestly say that I don’t want Showtime. If I get Showtime I’ll have to patch and then subsequently deal with the nonsense the newly intrusive store will cause before I can turn it off. If I get Showtime I’ll have social networking at the brink of my fingertips, which I don’t want. There’s a reason I’m not on Facebook and Twitter etc – because while I like chatting on forums and over instant messenger, I don’t like social networking sites like that.

So yeah, cheers EA for making TS3 so undesirable that even I with my compulsive spending habits and ‘OMG spiral stairs I must have it!’ tendencies I’m honestly not compelled even in the slightest to purchase this next expansion pack.

In other news; please can all the new years resolution people get fed up already? You are making the gym crowded, you have blocked me from being able to get into the Bokwa class because I was sick last week and didn’t manage to book in time before the class filled up. We all know you’re not going to stick to it so stop hogging all the machines in what is a relatively small gym, all the classes and just FUCK OFF, alright!? (Edit: Wonderful. I can now book for next week’s class except oh wait, I can’t because I have to wait until 9am. I’m at sodding work at 9am! I’m not allowed to use the internet. Cheers for that ¬¬ thank goodness I have a good friend who will book in for me, she works retail so her hours are a lot more flexible than mine. Still though, what a pain in the backside. I can’t be the only person whose been blocked from going either due to random people who have no intention of keeping it up taking the slots and they must be just as aggrovated).

Also WordPress? Stop logging me out! I left Blogger because it kept buggering up my posts but every time I come here they’ve fucked around with something and flipping well logged me out. I told you to remember me damnit!

Edit: …I seem to have gotten rid of my TS2 disks without realizing. Great. Time to be hitting up a friend to borrow what she has and then DDing the others so she can have her disks back. Yay. At least they’re cheap now.

So I’ve recently started doing Bokwa.

I’ve actually been interested in giving Zumba but as I work full time I’ve found it rather difficult to sign up to it. Don’t get me wrong there are plenty of classes around but I have a gym membership and get to go to classes like that for free, something which I would like to take advantage of and sadly the only Zumba class at my gym starts while I’m still at work.

I’d never even heard of Bokwa but my gym started putting up posters about it and last week I decided to give it a shot. It’s a lot of fun… tiring sure and it highlights just how unfit I am but to hell with it, I like it, it’s fun and unlike the gym I don’t get bored after about 10 minutes, yay!

It looks complicated but what you can’t see in the video is that the instructor is actually giving hand signals and depending on the hand signal that’s the move you do, it’s pretty awesome.

For the past month I have been extremely tempted to buy a new coat. Actually this coat:

It’s absolutely gorgeous… and highly impractical for winter in England considering how much it rains and how windy it can get, rendering even the best umbrella utterly useless, nevermind that I don’t have a car. But still… I want it so badly!

I realize how completely pointless this post was, but I need to start posting more and I haven’t really been playing the Sims lately so… yeah. I’m getting kind of bored with the Sims actually, I want to write a story for it or something but nothing is coming to me and I don’t want to start a project that I won’t finish. Hell I probably wouldn’t even upload it until it was already finished because I know what I’m like.

Internet Troll arrested 18 weeks

Posted: September 13, 2011 in Uncategorized

I found this today on the Daily Mail website:

Now, DM is like your average tabloid newspaper, take it with a pinch of salt (and the assholes that comment on there are your usual no-brained chavvy type – mostly, there are people on there with commonsense). I’m only really posting this because as far as I’m concerned it’s progress. If people can be made accountable for their horrendous actions on the internet towards another human being in a court of law then that can only be a good thing, it removes the mask so to speak that a lot of these jackassess wear when they go around spouting shit like that. There is too much cyberbullying going on and even nice people have a go because they think that they can hide behind their computer screens.

Lets hope he actually serves the full 18 weeks. Unlikely, but this bastard was sick and as his photo has been published there may be a few ‘friendly’ people out and about who’ll give him their own punishment 😀 (do wish it had been longer though, you can’t accidentally troll someone after all and what he did was particularly sick and twisted).

Faith in humanity = restored

I went to Manchester again yesterday to pick up some last bits and pieces for my cosplay. As well as that I popped into Swarovski to buy a cute little anime-style pendant that was in the sale – it’s my first piece of jewellery with real crystals so I’m rather pleased with it.

My mum was with me and wanted to go into New Look to have a look at handbags and while I was in there I saw the most disgusting shoes I had ever seen. They were like 12-inch platform sandals and feeling a bit bored I decided to try them on for lolz, during this time I put down the little Swarovski bag… and while I collected my other bags I did not pick up that one when I left the shop.

I realized this a good 30-40 minutes later as I was leaving Yo! Sushi. Now although I got this pendant in the sale it was still expensive so I was in a blind panic, I went back to Yo! and realized it wasn’t in the booth so then I went back to the only other place I could have put it down, New Look.

Of course; you’d expect your average person who finds a Swarovski bag with a pendant nestled inside to consider themselves bloody lucky and pocket it for themselves – I was convinced I was never going to see it again and was incredibly upset but still, I practically legged it back to New Look in my springy boots (no mean feat I’ll tell you that, I honestly can’t run in the things because the springs built into the soles make me bounce and lose my balance XD) but I was determined to get there as quickly as possible.

The bag was gone – naturally. I figured as much but as a last ditch hope I thought maybe one of the sales assistants had seen it before a customer and had taken it, so I went over to the desk and asked. They had it! But it turns out they hadn’t found it – a customer had picked it up and actually taken it to them. I couldn’t believe it – the sales assistant who told me what had happened sounded surprised about it too.

I only wish I could find this person and thank them personally for doing something so kind when they could have walked off with it. I’ve even written in to my local newspaper who have a good deeds column to try and thank them.

With this act I not only consider myself VERY lucky but I’ve also had my faith in humanity returned. Who knew that there were  still people out there willing to hand in a piece of jewellery from an expensive shop (even if they hadn’t looked inside at what it was the bag said it all – Swarovski are known for being expensive and lavish all their items in crystals).

I am eternally grateful to this person, whoever they were.

I might have mentioned this once or twice before, but as well as hanging out in front of my computer I also go to anime conventions, only one a year as it’s quite expensive and yes, I do cosplay. The con I am going to this year is having a Time Traveller’s dance on the Sunday and my friend suggested to me that we cosplay Homunculus and Eike respectively from Shadow of Memories (Shadow of Destiny to those in America) (I of course, would be Homunculus).

Somehow I think I have made a rather fatal error in agreeing to this. While getting together the costume will not be too much hard work I may have initially looked over one thing – Homunculus technically has no gender but looks like a rather effeminate boy… a rather effeminate boy who wear a tight top. I am a curvacious woman with a size DD chest. Problem.

Cosplaying male characters usually isn’t that difficult; waistcoats and shirts hide more than you’d think but this is going to be different. I’ve never had to actually bind before as the characters I usually go as wear baggy clothing but I don’t know what to do. I know there are special latex things you can get off the net, but the con is in 3 weeks and I don’t want to fork out more money on my credit card. At the same time I don’t want to be restricting my breathing and basically causing myself a lot of pain to reign in my bust.

I probably should have thought this through.

My friend btw who has a much smaller bust, will be going as Eike so she gets to cover up under a heavy military-style jacket while my entire figure is on show. I think I drew the short straw there XD (I’m secretly hoping that it’ll be really hot so she’ll be just as uncomfortable in said heavy military jacket as I’ll be with my boobs clamped to my chest).

You’d think after all this time I’d have finally found a female character I like enough to cosplay as who don’t wear overly complicated and/or skimpy outfits.

Edit: For those of you unfamiliar with this great game, this is what the characters look like:
